I am considering a used Dell M4800. In my reading, I came across a note on the Dell Precision page of Wikipedia. It says:

QHD models have a disabled iGPU. This has several downsides: the power consumption during low load is high and thus the battery runtimes clearly suffer despite the high-capacity battery, and Intel's QuickSync Video cannot be used.

    See here under M4800: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dell_Precision

What do they mean by QHD models? How would I know if the one I'm looking at is a QHD model?

This just means the models with either the UHD (3840x2160) or QHD (3200x1800) screen. You might also see IGZO somewhere in the ad, referencing the panel tech, which only those two screens on the M4800 use. All it means is that Intel's on-CPU GPU won't operate on these displays, so whatever GPU the laptop has will be the only thing doing any rendering, resulting in slightly increased power usage.

I have the QHD screen (3200x1800) and can confirm this is the case.

I believe the UHD version does have Optimus, so it was only the QHD models affected.

UHD doesn't get Optimus either. However, when the system launched, there were only QHD screen choices and lower (UHD was added later), so that's probably the reason why only QHD is specified in the Wikipedia article.
