Seriously they've changed their whole Dimension and Inspiron line, it's time for the next generation the XP m1710. Without a doubt it is being anticipated by countless people. Post your opinions of what the new XPS gamer notebook will look like, how it will perform, and what will be new.

They are changing a lot recently, so I think we'll see it within the next 3 months. My guess is that it iwll include the 8800m (expected anytime given their curretn pace at Nvidia) and the coming Intel Extreme CPUs for laptops. Wireless N is a definite along with 7200 RPM hard drives. And of course, the standard Dell overcharge for RAM by about 500% ;)

Oh and Blu Ray..haha. Hopefully they include HDMI if they have Blu Ray in there.

I'm looking forward to the release, but if it has that stuff, I might pick one up as long as it's not overpriced.

Hopefully it won't be basically a rebadged Inspiron with different GPU options.

I don't know though..I like the Inspiron cases/keyboards and color options :) Is that so bad?

The current XPS form is nice too though. I just want a nice size keyboard that is good for typing and not too small.

I don't think it would have anything less than a 8700, a 8800 would also be a likely possibility I'd think

If it doesn't have an 8800, then it should be out now. And it won't sell.

I'm expecting it to be the 1730, and available within maybe 2-4 months. The 8800 should be an option (or possibly the only option), and presumably it will have DVI or HDMI. It's nuts that Dell removed that from the 1720, and is the only reason I don't own that system right now.

Yep.. The current inspiron line's pretty lame- a crippled graphics card, no DVI/HDMI, a 15" screen ina 17" chassis, and too heavy to boot... The only thing going for it the price..

What graphics card would be better in the Inspiron line then?

I'm waiting for one of these as well. It doesn't look like I'll be seeing it before college any more though, so I am guessing 2-4 months from now I'll be ordering. It all comes down to when Nvidia announces the 8800M. It usually takes Dell about a month after the announcement of a new card to incorporate it into their line up, based on the 8x00 series anyway. But there is always a chance that Dell could launch the 8800 for Nvidia.

I could really care less about an extreme processor though. A C2D at 2.0 is enough for me. The cost to go beyond that is not really worth it.

I just want a notebook that will run Half Life: Orange Box, Unreal Tournament 3, ES: Oblivion, and Crysis at least as well as my Xbox 360 would run them. And a Go 7950 GTX just won't cut it for me for all four years while I am in college. Here's hoping the XPS M1730 comes out sooner that later.
