Well, the Latitude appears to be in for a complete revamp, switching from "D" to "E". There will be 12", 13", 14", and 15.4" models. There appear to be plenty of pretty nice features, including very low weights, LED backlit displays, carbon fiber casing, eSATA, and DisplayPort.

The pictured 12" model appears to have a slot loading DVD drive on the left side, so it appears that Dell is finally integrating an optical drive into their ultraportable line. Also, it is safe to assume that all will be Intel based, with a cut down (both features and price) AMD model coming in at the low end.

I'd assume that its a Montevina release, which is Q3 this year.

Thanks for the info. I doubt that is a picture of the 12"...maybe the 13". You can see the row of keys on the right side (page up/down, home/end, etc.) which would be hard to squeeze into a 12" chassis.

the first picture looks ugly as sin. it's as if they cut the ledges off MBP. too bad MBP is old news though or it would've been a nice alternative. still, it's leaps above dell's current lineup.

I don't think that the first picture is of the new Latitudes. That has been floating around for a little while, and looks to just be a graphic. Too flashly for a Latitude.

These new ones look promising though, I think I'm going to wait for a while longer before I order a laptop. Looks good AND Latitude build quality.
