Well Dell usually has some pretty nice screens, and most 1080p IPS panels these days are either LG or AUO, and both those panels are decent (I've used both), especially at this price point. The AUO has better colour reproduction, while the LG is brigther.

Wish I could be sure on the length of the M.2 slot. Would like to pick up an SSD.

From the service manual it looks to be a full 2280 drive.

I'm hoping that is the case as those drives are the cheapest ones usually. But don't want to spend 175 bucks and find out it won't fit.

Does anyone know if the M.2 2280 SSD Slot is Sata III or PCI/E? Just making sure before I buy my SSD. Ordered my laptop on 10/7/15, still waiting on shipping.

Be interested to hear the overall feedback when the laptops arrive, especially interested to hear what the 1080p screen is like if anyone has ordered it with that!
Also fan noise/heat output when just using it surfing and battery life (10hrs+ is quoted but if its 5hrs+ that will do me!).

Also HDD speed as i'm currently using a 512GB SSD on an old laptop and not sure i could go backwards on that front!

I get about 4hr out of a 40W/hr battery and a Haswell CPU, 10hr with a 74W/hr battery and a Skylake CPU (which is more efficient) should be doable. Not so sure about the 4K version though.

Also, going from a SSD to a HDD will have a negative impact on performance, even a SSHD (hybrid drive) doesn't come close to a SSD. You could just swap the drives.
