Nice, thanks a lot! Looks like there's a release date as well!

on dell uk website they are live and ready for order. they look rather good with the i7 hq processors and gtx960 graphics. just dont like the new chassis so much as the old aluminium one.

Odd, the service manual doesn't have information for the M.2 drive. Looking at the images it looks like it goes between the battery and one of the fan assemblies.

Any chance I'd be able to add a mobile broadband card to this laptop?

Yeah the service manual seemed pretty lacking compared to previous ones. I've seen people mention adding mobile cards to previous gen Inspirons but I don't see any extra slots on this new generation. Lots of plastic though so who knows what's covered.

Boo.. what happened to the beautiful 7548 slim design? :( There won't be successor from Inspiron series like that?

I liked that design too. The keyboard was good and I kind of like that there was no number pad. This new one though really is quite a powerhouse and specs alone make it worth the 7000 series moniker. Maybe dell will update the 5000 series inspirons and make those more like the 7558. They won't need major cooling because they will most likely use core U... then again dell probably won't use metal on the 5000 series.

All in all, I do like the direction dell is taking with the new one. It is much more powerful and a worthy successor.
