Does anybody know when/if Dell is going to provide Windows 10 drivers?

I'm running 8.1 64bit on my 1720 and would like to upgrade to 10 as soon as possible.

Has anybody used Win 10 preview on the 1720? If you did, please share your experience.

I can have a second hand one (the 650m and i7 version) for 500 Euros and comes with a cooling master base. Should I take it? It's near mint condition. Ill use it to watch tv shows, web and video games (Won't spend more money even if its not good enough to play).

    thanks

Try to negotiate the price to bring it down to €460—470

    Hello!

I have the Dell 17R SE 7720 with 16GB RAM, and with a Crucial M4 mSATA SSD.

I am thinking to upgrade the laptop and at first I am thinking to buy a new Crucial MX200 mSATA SSD as it is almost double as fast as the one I currently have. I will also buy a WD Blue 750GB 7200rpm as I need more disk space.

I also have some questions about possible upgrades.

    1) The RAM I currently use is this ( http://uk.crucial.com/gbr/en/CT2KIT102464BF160B?imodule=CT2KIT102464BF160B ). Do you think I will notice any significant difference if I upgrade to some other RAM?

    2) Is it possible to replace the palmrest and the LCD backcover with something more elegant and something that it doesn't get dusty so fast? ( I currently have a plastic palmrest and LCD backcover with comb pattern)

    3) Is it possible to replace the keybord with a backlit keyboard (and preferably in other material than plastic)? How difficult is this?

    4) I would like to also upgrade the CPU maybe not now but in the near future. Is there any such possibility?

    5) Is there any possibility to upgrade the GPU? And if so what models are supported?

    6) Last but not least, I am going to format the system after installing the new disks and I thought to update the BIOS too. I currently have the A11 version. A friend of mine had issues installing Windows on his mSATA SSD with newer BIOS version. Is there going to be any problem with that if I upgrade to the A17 BIOS version?

    Thank you in advance.

You won't notice much difference from another ram upgrade unless you have a vm lab set up. Can't upgrade GPU or CPU. Backlit keyboard is easy to fit. BIOS update is safe. Back covers are replaceable, not sure about palmrest.

    Thank you for your answer!

What do you mean with "vm lab set up"?

Could you maybe recommend a site where I could buy OEM parts as keyboard, backlit and eventually palmrest?
