Is there a special way I should delete the folder or should I just treat it as a normal file?

I believe I deleted mine by going to my C: drive in My Computer, right click it and select Properties; then select Disk Cleanup and then Clean up system files. The Windows.old file should appear in the list to be deleted.

I don't know if this is a special way of doing it, but as far as I can remember that's the how I saw it in the first place and deleted it from there. Nevertheless it shouldn't be any different by just browsing to the folder location itself and deleting it there.

Even I deleted using "Disck clean up" under C: drive properties. That way Windows knows what it is doing and it can remove any other references to these files.
