The Wikipedia entry said that Cyberpunk 2077 was nearly complete mid-2019 and only polishing remained, but also notes Nvidia partnered after that in June 2019 to bolt on Nvidia's RTX BS.

Perhaps integrating Nvidia's RTX BS is what screwed up the release schedule, and caused the delay?

"The content was nearly complete in mid-2019, with the rest of development focused largely on polishing"

"...which was around 450 by June 2019,[59] when CD Projekt Red partnered with Nvidia to achieve ray tracing in real time..."

Cyberpunk 2077: NVIDIA Partnership Brings Ray Tracing To Hugely-Anticipated Game

Nvidia couldn't leave well enough alone - Cyberpunk 2077 was "nearly complete" with almost a year left to polish it before the April 16th 2020 release.

Now we gotta wait for Nvidia's RTX BS - FPS reducing screw-up's - to be integrated into the game - delaying Cyberpunk 2077 almost 6 months?

I feel the same way, I'd rather them be happy with it than release it before it's ready. They haven't let me down yet.

Surely you aren't suggesting that CDPR would delay a guaranteed blockbuster that has nearly 160,000,000 console fans as potential buyers, just so the comparatively minuscule RTX 20 series crew can have ray-tracing effects.

    Such notions would be madness.

Yes, it's the easy target and not at all the turmoil that has been brewing in and around CDPR for the last 5+ years.

Cyberpunk 2077's release is now close enough to the new PS5 and Xbox Console releases CD Projekt Red might as well make Cyberpunk 2077 a Console release title ;)

    10 Things The Witcher 3 Taught Cyberpunk 2077 - CYBERPUNK 2077 GAMEPLAY
    Jan 18, 2020
    Eurogamer
CD Projekt Red learnt a lot from making The Witcher 3, and wouldn't you know it, a bunch of those lessons have been applied to their newest RPG Cyberpunk 2077. This video is full of all the wisdom CD Projekt Red's developers applied to the creation of Cyberpunk 2077, using The Witcher 3 as a comparison to show how their approach has changed. Watch for a ton of Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay and remember, it's toss a coin *to* your witcher, not *at* your witcher.
