    Hi guys,

Just wondering how good QS haswell cpus work and getting some feedback.
I'm considering getting a new i7 4940mx QS and don't want to waste 300$ without assessing the risk beforehand.

    Thank you.

I don't know about Haswell but I once had a 3920xm QS which weirdly degraded on me. It was my first and last experience with a QS sample.

Remember 4940mx is a lousy overclocker vs. its predecessor 4930mx. The main reason you go for Extreme processors.

Aren't they both kind of the same as far as overclock is concerned? I've read several threads saying the the haswell extremes are kind of a waist of money? compared to 4910mq in terms of gaming performance?

Not the big difference in games. But some actually use their processor for more than gaming. Higher clock speed = Work can be done faster. And Extreme processors is better binned and with No Power limits like the Mq models. Bigger chance for higher OC.

You are thinking of this Microcode fix? Still not as good binned. Some yeah, but not all. 4940Mx is trash. as lot of the MQ

No, all MQ cpu is unlocked on power limit, just not the multiplier unless you apply the glitched microcode.

It may be, but long since I've heard about Hotwell now. I have probably forgot it.
