Convert M9750 to M17x-R1?

    Unfortunately not completely - you wouldn't be able to re-use the GPUs most likely in SLI like you've said but also, the processor would need to be replaced too.

    The M9750 is a Napa platform (945 chipset) and takes socket M CPUs, the M17X-R1 is a Santa Rosa platform (965 chipset) and takes socket P CPUs, which in experience are cheaper than socket M CPUs so maybe that's not the worst thing - you could potentially sell the socket M cpu if it's a T7600 and get a faster CPU like a T9300 or T9500 for the same cost.
    You should be able to use the memory without any trouble.

    That is a COMPLETELY different laptop.

    You would need to sink another $500+ into parts(not including CPU/GPU) to get that up and running...
