a few years ago, some of your readers asked about this company CPS - Consumer Priority Service, (www.cpscentral.com), based in New York. We got involved with them as an extended warranty vendor for a TV we bought from a New York web site (pricemad.com).

    The bottom line is:

Do not give your money to this company. They not only won't provide service for the money you pay them, but they also require you to provide a credit card when you file a claim, and if they decide on a whim that the service call was 'erroneous' - they will bill your card $160.

I have filed a claim with NY BBB on them, because they have also done many other things trying to avoid having to provide service, and they seem to be crooks, and I'm going to find every single blog and forum where their name is mentioned and warn people away from them.

    Sorry to hear about this.

The only third party insurance company I would trust is SquareTrade.

Thanks for the reminder on SquareTrade. I need to get some extended warranties for some of my equipment where the manufacturer's warranty is running out.

I received my repaired camera yesterday. I just wanted to let you know that I am VERY pleased with their service. It was my stupid fault that the camera was damaged. Fortunately I had accidental breakage coverage with them. They handled the claim very professionally and very fast. I have nothing but great things to say about your company.

I realize you did not make much profit off of me this time but I plan to continue the protection in the future and be more careful in the future so you should eventually be glad I am a customer. I am also going to recommend your company to other people. I am a member of a camera club and I will also promote your company with the club.

I just wanted to let you know I am a happy customer.

Looks like some shameless advertising by one of their employees.

Most likely, though I cannot confirm this with the tools that I have. Given the way the post was written, I'm pretty sure this is some form response from them.

Just reinforces how scammy this company probably is.
