Has anyone used the x6000 on gaming yet?

Does anyone know when this will hit the stores such as BestBuy?

I'm planning on ordering a x6000 with the following specs:

    Intel P4 3.20 GHz w/HT
    17" WXGA + Brightview
    512MB ddr ram
    80 GB
    128MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) X600

How long do you think this will take me as of gaming in the following months or even years down the line.

    Hey everyone!

    I own a I9200 from dell until monday [B)]

Because of known issues I am returning it. I was looking at buying a X6000, I can't find much on reviews. Due to past experience I am real concerned about the display. Can any of you X6000 owners let me know what display you have and what you think about it?

I would really appreciate the input.

    Im looking to get

    XP Pro
    Intel Pentium 4 520

    2.0GB DDR2 SDRAM, 400MHz (2x1024MB)
60 GB 7200 RPM Hard Drive

Check the reviews on the ZD8000, same Motherboard, same chipset Intel 915P, I would however buy two kingston KVR533D2S4/1G sticks of ram instead of the overpriced PC 3200 that HP sells with the PC. The Kingston sticks are 533MHz instead of 400MHz, I took that option. I got my ram at newegg.com it was $442.00 for two gigs. I currently have the X6000 with the brightview screen. I can't say enough about it. Very nice!

Thanks for the reply I will look into the memory. Although I beleive you about the ZD8000 I can't help but wonder why they would spec out the same notebook pretty much far cheaper. The ZD8000 is over 2,500 before tax with the same layout and the X6000 is around 1,800. Not sure why they would do that but it appears that it is the same thing in a different frame.

If your wondering for viewing purposes that would be cool, but if you are looking to buy, I would always go custom built, its cheaper from the maunfacturer to get what you want, if you buy at best buy you are stuck with a prebuild solution. Plus you have to pay a middleman and you have to take it to best buy if you have warranty issues, which I don't know about your best buy but mine is bad at handling computer issues.[:D]

One thing I have noticed, that the prices and options of the x6000 change almost daily. So if the configuration your looking for isn't available today, it might be avaible in a week. Right now you can't get a gig of ram (maybe hp ran out of 512 sticks) but I think that option will be avaible again. For right around 2g's you can configure a NICE powerhouse!

Has anyone put the X6000 to work?

I am curious how the display holds out (sparkle, discoloration so forth)

How long the battery life is while gaming and how quiet it is. X6000 is supposed to be like the zd8000 from HP. According to PC Magazine the xd8000 is really noisy.

Also has anyone seen any cupon codes for the x6000?

I'm asking alot because no one has reviews of this yet. Plus the best way to get an overall of the notebook is by the people who use them everyday. Thanks in advance.

I've also had better luck with HP laptops than Compaq ones. I think the X6000 is quieter than the ZD8000.

The X6000 and the ZD8000 have the same noise level, same number and type of fans. The X6000 runs hot like the zd8000 as well. The reason I went with the Compaq instead of the HP was price. The same config in an HP was 300.00 more. The machines are identical. Same Motherboard, Ram, Hard drive options, optical drives, fans, cpu options. The color, speakers and the name are the difference.

Well, the Compaq laptops I had problems with were from 1999-2000. The Compaq models now I think have gotten better in quality but I haven't tried them out.

I am very interested in both the zd8000 as well as the X6000. Since they both look like the same exact systems I will probably end up getting the x6000.

There are several features I like about the zd8000 though:
    Color,
Reviews on the great speaker quality and volume,
    built in FM radio

I don't think those equate to a several hundred dollar difference, though speaker quality is definately VERY important to me in my decision.

My questions to those of you who own the x6000 are:
Is the processor in it a newer or older P4 HT socket? Extreme Edition?
    Does it game good?
Is the lcd monitor one of good quality and have a wide viewing angle?

Im also concerned on whether or not to go with an AMD 64 laptop or something along these lines--a p4. My major concern is being left behind in the dust when 64-bit technology hits maintstream.

    Is this laptop for me?
