    Hello Everybody,

I have a Clevo W150 HR since 2011 and I never made any upgrade on it (It includes do not change the thermal paste as well). Recently, I noticed that the sound of the fan is higher than the normal, and the fan is practically running all the time at a speed higher than the normal. (Not max).

Just to highlight, I started to use the laptop at the college, and how all the students have their brand new laptops, my Clevo seems to be a helicopter. It is very annoying.

I intend to do some upgrades (with the low budget as possible), but I did not made it yet. The plan follows:

1 - Apply a new thermal paste on the CPU and GPU - Probably the Noctua NT-H1.

    2 - Change Fan ( I have the ADDA Model AB7505HX-GE3 originally installed ) - I found this one: https://ebay.to/2T1dXgz

3 - I did not mention, but the HD is not a SSD and it contribute for the noise (I though to buy the Crucial BX500).

    ---- or ----

1 - Buy a new fanless notebook for the College.

I rarely play games, and the main advantage of the Clevo is that I intend to use it to run Deep Learning algorithms on the GP. This is the main reason that I am using on college.

Using the Fanspeed, the temperature is always between 48-50 ºC - because the fan is pratically always on.

    Configuration:

    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2520M CPU @ 2.50GHz
    NVIDIA GeForce GT540M

What do you thing about it ?

Fan is probably louder because things are hotter. Do the repaste first.

Also make sure the fins on the heatsink are clean.

Also ensure the nvidia gpu is not being kept awake by mistake.

    Hello !

The SpeedFan software indicates that the temperature is zero. The GPU temperature only change when I execute the GPU-Z software.

Is there other way to confirm it?

The nvidia activity icon in the driver control panel under the desktop tab at the top. Enable it and see it in the bottom right.

The software says that I am using the Intel HD Graphics 3000 as standard.

I do not know if it has any relevance, but when I push the bottom "VGA" positioned at the top left of the laptop, the following message appears:

"In order to make 3D applications work on iGPU or dGPU, please make sure that those applications should be exited first and run them again."

It should be a little gpu icon in the bottom right that lights up from grey when the gpu is in use.
