I just need help deciding between these two laptops, both are 1080 equipped .
I wanted a Clevo P870DM3 with single 1080 gpu, but there aren't any in Europe at a reasonable price, I had also decided to wait for more reviews of these units, but my laptop thought it was a good time to die today, so here I am typing this message from my smartphone, with a real sens of urgency .
I know the main difference between both, bga turdbook CPU on the MSI and all, I am still leaning towards the MSI though which seems like they have a real nice chassis this time around, not sure the P775DM3 can handle temperatures as well, not to mention the lack of 120hz screen, so what laptop would you guys recommend me? Taking into consideration how urgently I need a replacement, thank you .

There is about 300 euro price difference between the 2, MSI being pricier, but knowing PCspecialist the wait will be pretty considerable .

I am leaning more towards the Clevo now, because of that desktop CPU, I'm just a bit worried that it will not be able to cool the 1080 some reviews have it struggling to cool the 980, lack of 120hz screen is a bummer too .

Ive read on the PC Specialist forums that they are testing 120Hz screens. Sent them an email myself but not heard back yet

    I feel your pain....

I'm in the same position but with less hurry.

The P775DM3 specced to GT73 is about £350 less and has a desktop cpu, but that 120Hz G-Sync screen on the MSI......

So, £350 extra for the screen and the GT73's funky looks over the P775DM3 with a desktop proc.

I've had Clevo's before and they're great machines, but I love my GT72 that I have now.

After all that mumbling, I didn't really help but will follow the thread with interest.

Please buy the Clevo. Desktop CPUs in taptops for the win!

I can't tell anyone to trust MSI until they rectify the situation with promised upgrade paths for the GT72/80 and I chose the GT72 over a much cheaper Clevo P670SG.

That is great news can you keep us posted mate?

I'm at the point where any bit of feedback helps, and I want to make the best decision possible .

Yeah that is the direction I am leaning towards, the only thing I'm worried about is the cooling, most review of P775DM1 have it running pretty hot, even the keyboard gets pretty toasty, and that is with a 980, so 1080 will more than likely be worse, unless those 12v fans really make a world of difference .
And there is the no 120hz display option, which really is a huge turn off, but if what brother Boggot says happens this month it is a non issue, and my decision is pretty much made .
That being said I do like the new design on the MSI the cooling looks pretty beastly, as it can also SLI (1070s), I like the turbo fan button as well, and the mux, for when I'm on the go, the keyboard and sound system are also best in class, aside from all the red accents the MSI is a pretty sexy beast, I really don't understand why they insist and impose all that red not to mention the dragon, that might work in Asia, but to most people in the west it makes something premium feel and look cheap, even toy like, not really what we want when spending 3K+ euro on something .

To be fair that is mostly Nvidia's fault for ditching MXM, that and the fact they are releasing pretty much full blown desktop gpu's this time around, not sure any OEM's were privy to that 2 years back .
