Yea so in the middle of regular use my Clevo P770ZM-G started smelling of electrical burning. Soon as I smelled it then there was a snap crackle and pop a bit of flame could be seen underneath the power button and then a sizable amount of acrid smoke started to emit from the laptop.

So it is pretty dead now. Just my query is what are the chances of the unit being repaired or is it scrap.

I'm somewhat suprised that it actually catched fire.

It kinda depends on the damage really. hard to say.

Yea of everything I heard that was a rare occasion nowadays but yea it just SMOKE AND FIRE. No reason why it just happened.

I'm thankful it's still under the extend warranty. Now just to get it processed if i can just get in contact with them.

Especially since I didn't do anything it just caught fire.

Component failure is a low occurence, but it does happen. Have it RMA'd because most likely the mobo needs replacement.

When there's actual fire, it's time to have the manufacturer take a look at it.

And as the says goes Where there's smoke there definitely was fire.

So to ask what options do I have? My warranty is with the builder and it runs out in October.

Be honest and keep it simple. The laptop was in use when there was sizzle and flame from the inside of the laptop. Now it doesn't work. Let them diagnose it and replace what needs fixing.

I just hope that while it is the holiday weekend causing communication delays I grow increasingly worried about their lack of response on any channel.

Not a good feeling to possibly be hung out to dry on an investment I thought would last a good deal longer.
