Hello, first of all this forum rocks :D so why i'm here, about 2 years ago i got this fantastic notebook, but nowadays my nvidia gtx970m is been too slow for a good gaming.

So the problems is... atm i have a unused gtx1070 FE, so my question is can i buy for example a razer core X and use the gtx1070 on my notebook ?

Or can i buy a gtx 1060/70 mxm3.0b and put it on my notebook and sell my gtx1070FE ?

.... Wich is the best thing to do ?

This my bios and TB3 version :

You could but thunderbolt would limit the speed of the 1070 quite significantly due to chipset (it connects to this and not the CPU directly) and translation (from tb3 to pcie) latencies.

There are various threads with regards to upgrades on this model, have you also checked the owners lounge?

I'd have to search them out myself, check out linus tech tips on eGPU performance, they covered the performance difference quite well.

I know about performance drop, but what i really care is about lag or tearing, if i get 20% or 25% fps drop it's not a big problem since it will be A LOT faster than my gtx970 ...

i saw the LTT video about Egpu, and yes the performance drop it's about 30% but he didn't show if performance on real gaming are good about lag or tearing, and i have another question it will work on my notebook ? it's hard to setup ?

    P.S:
i also forgot to say, i'm already using my notebook with external monitor 2560x1440

    After some Digging:
    gtx1060m MXM3.0B

    Very expansive
    Need custom cooler ?
    Need a new powersupply ?
    Need a custom bios ?
    i will lose Gsync ?
performance close to my GTx970m (OC)

    Egpu:
RazerCore X (Expansive like 300Euro) but if will not work i can turn it back (amazon)
    GTX1070FE (i already have 0 euro)
    External monitor (i already have it 27" 2560x1440 and 27" 1920x1080)
Need a custom bios ( hot swap PCIEXP ?)
Perfomance Boost over my gtx970m ( 2560x1440 egpu seems to drop less perfomance)
My notebook have a full thunderbolt 3 pciexp 4 lanes ?
It will be easy to install ? custom driver ? need to disable gtx970m ?
it's plug and play ? (i travel a lot) so when i go home i just want to plug the TB3 cable and play....
