No, it doesn’t seem to like overclocking. it is Lenovo branded OEM DDR4 ram. I messed with it a little more. With pretty relaxed timings I couldn’t get 2800 at all with 1.35v.

When he sold it, he removed his good stuff I suppose.

No need to go too crazy with the clocks past that, 3000-3200mhz tends to be the highest regular clocks that most people are on and you get most of the potential performance there.

A pair of RipJaws 3200 cl 18 are ~110$ while cl 16 are 207$ in Scandinavia.
And 4000 sticks are 285$ atm.

The 3200 cl18 can be tightened to cl15 with a bit more voltage, so as Meaker pointed out, this is price/perf sweetspot.

how about them ripjaws 3800? are actually on par / tiny bit more ocable than the 4000 corsair sticks and actually cheaper (usually)

admittedly, anything above 3200 doesnt really make sense tbh. thats why im thinking about going with 2x32 gb sticks at 3200 mhz instead of 4x8 gb 3800....

    I haven't tested the 3800 kit, so only spoke about the ones I've had. I run the 4000 sticks @ cl14 3333mhz.
Reason I prefer 4x8 is that single rank has an easier time training and overclocking compared to my dual rank RipJaws.

Especially as you start to push the speeds.

Yup, it was really exciting to get 3600Mhz to run. But it becomes a balancing act trying to get timings decent enough to beat tuned 3333Mhz settings.

Certainly in most applications which do care more about overall timings rather than raw bandwidth past that point.

In synthetics such as FS/TS it was very hard for 3600Mhz to beat 3333Mhz CL14. Perhaps some games might benefit more.
