Hello everyone, I need your help. After my old graphics malfunction amd 8970, I bought a gtx 980, I already have everything properly installed but sometimes playing pubg the PC has shutdown. Controlling temperatures never exceed 80 ° even after a few hours of play. The cpu also has a normal temperature of 35 °. So I do not understand what might be causing the shutdown, I suspect it is a driver or bios problem. So I came here to ask what are the best drives and bios that work best with this graphics. Snipping tool is built into windows and a really easy way to get nice screen shots.

I'd say it's likely your VRM chips are not making good contact with the cooler.

A thermal trip on the GPU causes only the GPU to power off. The laptop will remain on for about a minute after.

Is your battery plugged in? What wattage is your power supply? A 980m can trip overcurrent protection on a 180W PSU even without overclocking. The power limit on a 980m is 108W vs 81W on the 8970. If you don't have a battery plugged in this will be a hard shutdown without warning.

Immediately after the shutdown does the battery LED blink green once? Or are the LEDs normal? Clevo does have some undocumented LED error codes. 1 blink as I described I believe is code for system overcurrent protection.

Do your fans spin very fast right before the shutdown, or are they normal?

yes the laptop is connected to the power always with the battery connected .. only the battery has already been a few years never switched it and maybe it is addicted. I did not notice any led flashing or led code, just normal behavior. The pc has a super normal behavior, but I already have 3 weeks with this graphic and I had 3 shutdowns always running PUBG, I feel it can be bios to limit the power of the gpu or a bad driver. I feel that the graphics can still yield a little more power. is there any possibility the bios is only debiting 81W from the 8970 amd instead of the 100W that the 980m gtx needs?

    thanks for ur help

    maybe @Prema can help

Plenty of people ran the 980m, you could try an underclock but I still recommend checking your fit.

If it's not the PSU I would go with overheating MOSFETs and suggest to try an undervolt vBIOS.
Maybe @Johnksss can PM you the 1v Mod.
