Stacked sodimms slots are trickier clocking wise.

I noticed that. Going from a dual rank setup to single rank.

Ram overclocking was a lot smoother in my experience. For instance, the 2x16Gb RipJaws would boot cycle around 4-6 times after a change in timings. While the single rank 4x8Gb Vengeance boot up instantly.

Yes it's easier for the memory controller to deal with even through the interference.

    So then my 3000Mhz CL17 is pretty decent for 64GB ? (even if it's 3200MHz CL18 Ripjaws)
And I'm talking 24/7 for work, not ego benchmarks.

Do they not train at 3200?

No need to push if you are doing real work.

The sticks are rated for CL18 3200Mhz, I wouldn't say trying to run spec is really 'pushing it'.

Official supported speeds are rated for 3000Mhz by Clevo however, the wall seems to begin around 3333/3400 for most people.

Unless they just flat out refuse to train anything above 3000Mhz, being your limit.

I had them running at 3200Mhz initially when I got them, at first attempt, didn't think it's anything special, since it's what the specs claim.
I had bad GPU which would shutdown randomly, so I sent it back for repair. After I got it back I could't get it to 3200 again.
It was updated with different BIOS and I probably didn't put exact same sticks in same slots. From what I understand it's possible for sticks to behave differently in different slots, and with 4 sticks there's quite a few combinations, so I didn't really bother with it.
But anyway I guess there is a minor difference between 3000 CL17 and 3200 CL18.

I know this issue. This is due to pairing. You're running 2x pairs, so dimm 1/4 have to be pairs and 2/3 have to be pairs.
Easy way to determine if they are pairs is by the production number, xx91 and xx92 are pairs.

When they're paired wrong you get errors and will have trouble running spec speeds.

You are absolutely right, i rearranged the sticks into:

    Slot1: xx01
    Slot2: xx09
    Slot3: xx10
    Slot4: xx02

And indeed after setting it to XMP profile it booted at 3200Mhz CL18 correctly ! :)

Now I wonder if I should tweak it manually or just leave it at XMP (18-18-43-61 (560))

    Thanks !
