This model support only 65W CPU.
I believe, experiments with 95W CPU will be out of warranty)

It is more about cooling system limits.
They have much beefier XMG Ultra 15 with 95W support.
All sellers offers N950TP6 only with 65W CPU, everything above will be at own risk and out of warranty.

There are also N650DU and W650KK1 sold with a 91W TDP i5-7600K or i7-7700k so that's not a problem. A K cpu needs to be delidded also in a P7xx. There are also resellers offering barebones without cpu so you can buy what you want

@sicily428 @vs40 - @vs40 is correct, it's about the limitation of the chassis. It "officially accepts" 65W CPUs, which means support for 8700 but not 8600K or 8700K.

There's no such thing as an unlocked chipset as such, it depends on the CPU itself. Theoretically it does support K series CPUs, as did the Z270 etc etc, I don't actually know if the stock BIOS limits compatability via microcode or not, but you shouldn't be putting a CPU with more than 65W in this chassis as it's not designed for that kind of thermal dissipation. [ to halt any arguments about how 95W CPUS run in other chassis, the point is that the N950 is a slimmer chassis with GTX 1060 and as such it is not intended or designed with 95W CPUS in mind ;-) ]

On delidding, in P7 series you don't need to do this - on the 8600K you have more headroom than with an 8700K, but it depends what you want to use the laptop for.

    Just few further questions:
    1) When will be available the version 15.6" Full HD 120Hz/3ms | non-glare
    Modell: INNOLUX N156HHE-GA1 C2 ?
    2) CPU/GPU delid/liquid metal seal or other anti-heating stuff not available? neither on request?

We have it on order from Clevo, but no delivery date confirmation yet. Might be mid/late March, we also might see other panel options before the summer as well.

For other chassis that accept 95W CPUs we offer delidding and thermal paste options. But for this chassis, with 65W CPU it's not necessary - if we did offer this on the Apex 15 laptop it would be on the verge of offering an option which arguably would show very little return for the money. We could delid an i7-7700 for you if you really want it though, best to email info@mysn.de and ask the sales team directly.

    Here is one Chinese(?) review.
    https://zhuanlan.zhihu.com/p/33496027
As I understand i5 8400 can work at 3.8Ghz for all 6 cores in stress test, but at 98C.
I wish to see 8700 test in more regular apps an scenarios.

With the same power limit and HT it may just slow down a bit further.

Can anyone provide a BIOS file or SPI dump yet? Cannot find any official BIOS downloads anywhere ...
