    Hello!
Newbie here! So i was thinking of purchasing a clevo laptop(p775tm or p870tm with single gtx 1080). So i live in india, and with some research i done the custom duty here is like 41%! So only way ti get these laptop is via a friend of mine in usa who's gonna visit india in a year!

So as far as i can see there is only hidevolution that provides global warranty! But that option is bursted due to customs! And thats the main problem. If in case my laptop goes skraaa(like MB failure or gpu failure) i am on my own to repair it.

So, here comes my question, in what cases can a healthy motherboard/gpu die? Like I've seen some videos on youtube that puffed capacitors and bad ICs/VRMs cause this. So are these repairable by user?(obv with some experience and a desolderer).

Also, what are the other case these can die?( except liquid damage and droping, lol)

Also, what is average life i could expect from these laptops!? Many people say if i clean and repaste my laptop every 4 months, it'll stay for 5-6 years, is that true? Also if anyone could suggest me what areas of the MB and gpu are to be cleaned? And with what also(im soo noob!) Like with isopropyl alcohol or anythong else?

Tagging in the persons whose post I've seen and read and look 100% relevant.

What you are proposing (intentionally working around customs) is illegal and so yes will create a red tape barrier should you want to do anything official with it.

I suggest following the law and do things properly to avoid such issues.

So, youre saying me to pay 41% customs! Lol, i cant, and i dont want to do anything official with it! Just want to know in what case my laptop could die, and in which case i could repair it myself! If you dont know mostly all of the indians who have their brains working right, buy their laptop from usa or dubai like this! EVERYONE! Ive seen some posts from @Vasudev that he bought his AW usa like this! There was also a user called thebeastdragon (whom i cant find anymore) who bought his p775tmq like this

Hmm, well meaker, dispite of me too being an indian, i also dont want to pay 41%customs!

Let me break this up for everyone. The 41% tax has 10% tax and 31% CVD. Cvd is the tax to increase the laptop's price only for the sake that the companies in india like dell india, aw india, msi india's products which they sell at highly overpriced prices, dont become less-feasible to buy!

So at the end, to pay tax so that the overpriced companies in india dont get losses(due to their own fault of OVERPRICING THEIR OWN PRODUCTS) is not for me or any other indian to pay!

You can justify it all you like but until you get the law changed that's what it is set to and to get round it is tax fraud.

There will always be some import tax on goods, in the UK it's 20%.

What you do is up to yourself but I don't think it's appropriate to discuss this on the forum.

Yes, I pay all taxes whether I like them or not (I paid the import tax on my own system), it's not for people to pick and choose the ones they want to pay.

If it's unfair in your opinion get the law changed.

I actually planned to buy from Dell USA but I needed the lappie right away so I actually paid double the price.
I actually got it from India at $2500 instead of $1600. Add AGA and couple other things from Dubai when my cousin was visiting us which would approx add up to $3000

Read the Forum Rules. Especially the first point highlighted in General Rules.

@Papusan is correct, lets answer the question @SteveZodiacKiller is asking, and stop discussing about customs?

Anyways papusan, did you run into any problems with soo many clevos you've purchased? Like dude's saying like MB/gpu failure?

    Ok got it.
@SteveZodiacKiller Best option you can get it from Azom systems.
If you are good at disassembling then the failure rate can be reduced to 1 in 10 and if you're not there's a chance of 50-60% if you don't monitor temps using hwinfo, TS or CPUID.
    EDIT: Removed Customs thingy.
