The PBx0EF (2070) model uses the 5 pipe design and the PBx0ED (2060) model the 3.5 pipes design.
The referenced graphics are from very old material that was not for public consumption and taken out of context.

The PB series doesn’t come with Max-Q GPUs.

A bit heavier than what I’m looking for but improved thermals looks ideal for full power everything. Any word on price? Seems so far out for release dates.

Got the 2070 in the mail. Power is the main limiting factor. 60c and 100% load is 1620 boost at stock. If adding a 100mhz overclock, it actually beats the desktop GPU.

If I could increase the Power limit, it would probably push it to compete with the 1080ti.

I think in Europe it's sold only by XMG right now. You will need at least 2200-2300 € though.

I thought PB series is positioned above P9, is that not the case?
Since both are from P family I assumed the thicker chassis meant all PB models will have this and thus equal or better cooling (especially CPU) than P9 with like for like CPU+GPU.

Or perhaps they aren't too concerned because PB will get the same 8750h Tau~=18s treatment P9 received?

Yep, yet they only have the 15" not the 17 " PB71XX (XMG Pro17) model. They said they would be having it soon. Hopefully with QHD or 4K panels. Bring it home @XMG :)
