I need some expert pointing me in the right direction.

    Specs:

    Windows 10

    BIOS: Hewlett-Packard 68CAD Ver. F.0A, 25.11.2010

    Intel Core i5 560M 2.67Ghz - Arrandale (989rPGA socket)

    Dual slot RAM DDR3 PC3-10700 (667Mhz)

    Ram Part Number: HMT325S6BFR8C - H9
    Serial: 55175E96
    Voltage: 1.50 V

I am trying to figure out if I can put 2x8GB instead of 2x4GB. And can I put any type of DDR3 SODIMM RAM, or are these laptops finicky?

Somewhere I have read you can put 1600Mhz 2x8GB on dual slots, somewhere that you cant.

Somewhere I have read that you can use 1.35V RAM, somewhere else that you cant, etc.

You can't have more than 8gb for the Arrandale/Clarksfield CPU's as the memory controller only supports up to 8gb. You should be able to put 2x8gb sticks, but only 8gb can be used.

This is an old post with useful information on the matter. I’m using 32GB 1866MHz low voltage on mine. They are running at the 8740w’s default though - 1333MHz 1.5V.
