why don't you secure it using passcode?

what he said. simple to set up, and reasonably hard to circumvent/defeat.

If you go into your router's control panel on line, you will be able (hopefully) to see the computers that are accessing your router.
You should also be able to block their IP address.

Have a wander round in the control panel of your router and see what it can do for you.

    Cheers

As already said, best way to keep out others is by securing your network with a password, or use MAC address filtering (which will restrict computers by hardware : network adapter to be specific)

    As Malai5 says

    Access your router
Look to see the computers that are or have logged in
You can deny use by mac address

MAC filtering is useless. Use a WPA2 key with a 10 character long alphanumeric password.

There is lots of ways to make it more secure,if thats important

    Going off topic a bit:

I have made mine an open access wi-fi link

We in Canada have been fortunate enough to be ahead of the usa with high-speed broadband saturation

I do have the bandwidth to share

My views are a quite different than most here as far as sharing and security as well

In most large citys we can log-on without paying for hotspot access which is the trend that some large us corporations like starbucks etc are trying to get away with

They are not that popular here as we do have the bandwidth

Tomcat that's great. I hope the US is also able to reach that kind of broadband availability in the future. But getting back on topic, the average consumer here will most likely NOT want his bandwidth leaking out. And currently, no method of security besides WPA2 encryption will be sufficient. The rest is just a gimmick and people should stop using them as it just perpetuates the illusion of security.
