    Hello all,

I checked on the parts commonality thread, but couldn't discover whether the ac adapter for the 29 and 30 works on the 31. If not, any ideas about a good source for an OEM? My experience with off brand adapters has not been good, at least for the 29s and 30s. Thanks.

BUT make sure it has enough high enough volts. IF you have a ATI model you will need a 7 or 8 amp version.

The 31 I purchased is a Mk 4 i5 3340 2.7ghz, 8gb 64 bit winpro. Don't see anything about ATI. Is that a graphics card? Sorry for my lack of knowledge

The correct Volt/Amps is on a label on the back of the unit also.
    Probably 15.6V 7.05A.

    CF-AA5803A M1 8.0A
    CF-AA5713A M1 7.05A
are just two of the ones I have with me right now that are the right voltage. Some of the older big power block units are only 5A

The smaller units will power up the computer and even charge it when it's off. But I have had issue with using a smaller power brick and some of the more powerful machines where they just shut off and I have to pull the battery to use the pc because it couldn't power the machine and charge the battery at the same time and be useful.

Just checked my power units: I've got one 7.05 amps, and two with 5 amps. Maybe I'll put a wtb in the classifieds for another 7.05 amp unit.
