Putting together my first TB, going to use for automobile diagnostics.

I seem to be having power issues, sorry for the lame ? but I have to start somewhere.

Should the laptop turn on with power plug and no battery?

    Thanks ahead.

Yes it should run on just a.c. power without a battery.

Did it ever work for you?

CF 53's have known power and video issues.

Please post a photo of the sticker on the power supply.

When I ordered a refurbished CF-53, the seller mistakenly put in a power supply meant for a lower power model. So my battery would only charge with the laptop off. It would discharge with the power supply plugged in.

So I have no doubt it would not have run without a battery on that lesser power supply. The seller immediately shipped the proper power supply.

The correct power supply is about 7.5A. The lesser one that didn't charge it while on was about 5A. I bought a few aftermarket power supplies so I could leave them plugged in at strategic locations, all of them are 10A.
