Back in 2018, I purchased a refurbished CF-19 Mk5 in hopes of using it as a backup to my laptop and also a place to store important documents. As such, I rarely ever used it and never connected it to the internet. All was fine until a few months ago when I tried to turn it on.

The light on the ac adapter shown green, battery was probably dead or low, but no lights appeared on the front of the toughbook... more puzzling, i went ahead an purchased a new battery and power cable, and didn't skimp on either.

Still no lights on toughbook and reseting CMOS battery yielded no change.

    What are my options now?

I have seen this a few time on the CF-18 and 19 units, but never one newer than a Mk2

Remove the battery and charger. Cycle the power on switch ON a few times to clear out all the power. Now flip the unit over and pull the motherboard completely. (one I did have to leave completely out, even disconnect all daughterboards over night)

Then reassemble. I have purchased them off ebay that were dead and brought them back like this.

Remove battery and charger. Hold power switch on for 10 seconds. Now connect external power and try to turn on computer. Have seen bad batteries cause this issue.

Thanks for the quick replies, everyone. I did try the external-only power trick before I decided to make this account and it didn't work :/
i briefly considered ordering a new power board, but knowing my luck, it's gotta be something wrong with the motherboard.

Currently taking it down to the shell and let it sit until it the "new" mk5 i ordered shows up so I can do a full transplant of the internals like some science experiment ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Its back from the dead! After a full swap of the internals, I only (somewhat) regret that I still don't know what caused the issue but it doesn't seem to matter now

Put the guts you took out into the other body and see if it will turn on.

Just posted in detail but it told me I wasn't logged in though I was and still am.
Now the post is gone. Thanks, xen foro.
Ask someone about the thread on fuses with photos from years back - finding and checking them for continuity might help.
After that it gets more complicated.
