i have two desktop machines that i have built ...
    they run/ran 24/7 ... no shut-down or sleep/hibernation .
one ran for just shy of ten years before taking a lightning strike ...
it's replacement is still running in the same manner .

I'd rather have a 40k hour Toughbook than a brand new anything else!

Does anyone have a working CF-25? I'd be curious how many hours are on one of those (if they counted hours back then).

My husband has a 10 year old Acer laptop that is never turned off. I set the display to blank after 30 minutes, and drives to "Never" go to sleep. (Hard drives were replaced with SSDs.)

I'm inclined to believe that a Toughbook can easily beat that even if the hours in BIOS are high.

EDIT: Found 2 working CF-25s on eBay with Windows 98 installed. Those things are around 20 years old!

LOL... I would think a working CF25 would be a waste of electricity... Maybe Linux...

The ones on eBay have Windows 95, 98 or Dos, whichever you choose.

One advantage of Windows 95 over Windows 10 is as a "gaming rig". Windows 95 came with Solitaire, Freecell, Minesweep, and something else. (Hearts?) Windows 10 comes with no games unless you log into MS account to get them from "the Store".

My point being that a Toughbook would likely outgrow it's usefulness before it would die of too many hours.

I still have my very first Toughbooks. A CF-28 MK3 that Rick helped me setup a external antenna on. At that time that was a big mod for the 28. Man have we come a long ways since then :D
