Am getting a little impatient waiting for the T440s release, so wondering what I will be missing and price difference if I grabbed a X1 now?

Refurbished X1 with 8gb ram, 180 SSD I can get for around $1,000. I've heard prices for T440s will start from $1,200, which would probably be 4gb RAM I'm guessing?

I almost bought an X1 Carbon tonight, but am glad the checkout crashed. Lenovo starting prices are deceptively high. The published starting price is $1150, but there's always at least a 15% coupon, and often 20% like right now. With 20% off that's $920 which is reasonable.

Was that a new one? Refurbished seem like great deals for the X1 at the moment, though I'd expect those prices to drop a little more once the T440s is out. But have an inkling that when released, decent specs will add up the price on the base config.

    It was a refurb.

The T431s in the US store has a lot of stuff standard like backlit keyboard, bluetooth, camera, fingerprint, etc. I'll use the ssd from the X220. For me that just leaves the screen to upgrade.

What's the 20% coupon you used?

I was talking about the the regular store, but even that I misspoke. Only the T431s seems to be 20% off, rest are 15%. Coupon 4daysale.

Ahh yeah, that's the regular store. Damn, 20% off outlet prices, would have been a done deal! ;)

There have been some killer deals lately on the X1C. The one tonight was just a base model i5, 4gb, 128gb ssd, but for $760. It's too bad the battery life isn't better. The Haswell X1 Carbon will be the killer notebook, but it'll again start at ridiculous prices. So T440s ends up looking like the way to go if you can't wait for Haswell X1 Carbon's to get to the outlet.

I remember seeing a new X1 Carbon with sale plus Barnes and Noble gold for about $1000 a couple of days ago. I'm waiting for the T440s, and still will wait. Haswell, screen, and more ports are much more important to me than an extra pound.

An extra pound may be a deal breaker for me, weight is really important for my needs...
