As some of you know I am living in The Netherlands and want to buy a T61. So I am looking at www.techonweb.com

    I found these:

    LENOVO UNITED STATES - TP T61 CM/2.0 1024MB-120GB 14.1W DVDRW FPR WV
    $1,770.84
    http://www.techonweb.com/products/productdetail.aspx?id=D75943

    Specs:
    T7300
    1*1 GB ram (will buy a 2nd GB separate for ~€ 33)
    120 GB 5400 rpm
Up to 3.8 hours of batterylife (must be the 6 cell?)
    Quadro NVS 140m
    ThinkPad a/b/g
    3 years warranty
    WXGA+
    Bluetooth
    Vista Business

    And this one:
    LENOVO UNITED STATES - TP T61 CM/2.0 1024MB-120GB 14.1W DVDRW FPR WVB
    $1,460.90
    http://www.techonweb.com/products/productdetail.aspx?id=D75945

Does anyone know the difference in specs?

I entered the part numbers in lenovo's website and these are the specs:

    T61 76631TU
    T7300(2GHz), 1GB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1440x900 LCD, 128MB nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M, CDRW/DVDRW, 802.11abg wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 6c Li-Ion, WinVista Business

    T61 766416U
T7300(2GHz), 1GB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1440x900 LCD, 128MB nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, Intel Turbo Memory, 4c Li-Ion, WinVista Business

It seems the only two diffrences are wifi and battery! For $300 less you get... a better wifi card and the standard 4cell battery instead of the 6cell. Obviously the second deal is the better one!

those might not have international warranties?
    check and see

For the T61, lenovo has REALLY cheapened the warranty... they have shortened the warranty and removed international coverage.

Guess it's because they've moved production for the T61WS up to the same poor-quality plant that produces the low-end Lenovo N-series?

I'd be worried about the quality of these models

It seems from the two models above only the higher priced has IWS. Lenovo is actually charging $300 extra for IWS models!

The 6cell on this model is probably a mistake. I don't think Lenovo would list incorrect specs and at the same time a retailer would have the correct ones!

Anyway I don't think this is the model you want because as I said it doesn't come with IWS. You wouldn't want a notebook without warranty at all!

Hmm, the cheaper one gives only Australia and New Zealand, while it's sold in US...??????

    This sucks!

OR shops have a contract to net sell the ThinkPads international
OR you can buy them in Europe and pay too much in anyway
OR they charge you too much for some idiot warranty what a Latitude has at default.

I think you can buy an extra warranty for your own country, check with Lenovo

Tomorrow I am gonna call them and ask directly in their faces why I don't have warranty on a normal $1500 model.
