    Hi,

I use my Laptop as a Music Studio.

I need a second ssd drive, I would like to run the os off. - I heard you could have 2nd one in the wwan slot? I'm happy to do that if someone can confirm my laptop can do this and make most of the speed. Otherwise I will will buy external usb 3 hard drive. I have no idea about thunderbolt or usb c drives.

But would like to make the most from the technology this laptop has. Thanks! I have opened my laptop and taken pics for you experts.

I thought the WWAN slot one is a 2242 NVMe, which are fairly rare. Why not just get one big SSD for the main slot?

Just go for a 1TB NVMe SSD and replace the original.

yep,i suppose it looks the way forward!
In the past I have had SSD fail on me...so I can't really use this main drive for anything important...I guess I will use a external HDD drive for recordings audio projects.
    thanks guys

Whatever they do, someone is happy and someone is not.

You should be able to use a 2242 NVME SSD in the WWAN, as well as 2280/2.5 drive in the main bay. I'd look into TB3/USB C to NVME drives as well.

Have you performed any performance testing on your SSD-equipped T480, perhaps using CrystalDiskMark? Since you have the non-GPU model (like mine), I'd be curious to see if your NVMe SSD is getting the full 4 lanes of PCIe. I have seen various reports of the SSD being restricted to 2-lane PCIe, but others have tested with faster performance than should be allowed over 2 lanes.
