I have 2 pieces of 8GB DDR4-2133 (for a total of 16GB) memory from a Dell machine. I was wondering if I can use these on a GF72-7RD machine which uses DDR4-2400 ram.

I do not intend on mixing 2133 with 2400 but straight putting the two DDR4-2133 RAMs into the laptop... I simply got too many expenditures lately and would rather spend the money on SSD now, RAM later.

I asked other brands like ASUS and they claim *their* laptop can use DDR4-2133s as long as both are same speed.

    thanks!

If its SO-DIMM, sure you can, all the RAM will run at the speed and timings of the slowest stick of the bunch.

yes It can work. You can flash SPD to 2400(oc) most 2133 memory can be oc to 2400.

Did you mean changing the SPD in the BIOS to 2400? Don't think end users can get such tools to flash firmware on memory modules to get speed up to 2400.

No need to boost speed up to 2400. I can live with just 2133 as long as it is "stable".
I know 2133 would be slower; and I can still live with that.
I simply want to spend the money on M.2 SSD (which I dont have) instead of memory which I already have.

Maybe later down the line, i would upgrade to 2400. But at the moment, 2133 is all I got.

SSD is more important than memory so it should receive a higher priority. :)
