Can 8 beep error (m18x r2) be fixed by removing GPU? is it really fried or is IT repairs tricking me

    thanks for your reply. interestingly when restarting after shorting CMOS (or atleast what i thought i was doing, maybe i was doing it wrong - used a paperclip in place where the plug from battery connected) if i pressed FN+F12 then the beeping stopped fully but screen still black.

    would you say its safe to connect card back up again? should i go into BIOS first to check settings?

    yes you can connect your card..if it is short or dead it wont let the laptop even turn on as this happened with me when my gtx580m gave up out of nowhere..so its ok u can check by installing your gpu in your laptop to see if it still works or not
