    If I remember right that's definitely the right chip type it's detecting. Are you able to get a read out of 16mb? Attaching the clip is very finnicky yes.

    Pin 1 isn't the one that's colored in, maybe it's that?

    i watched a video and it said that the indent on the chip indicated pin 1 and still no luck, i’m gonna have another IT guy i know see if he can do it he knows some knowledge on it but if all doesn’t work i guess i’d just have to send it in

    NO!! Needs to be GD25Q128!!!!!! You have selected 8MB flash, the Razer BIOS ROM is 16MB!!!

    Ok I was able to select it and actually get a read! But now what do I do? I knew all steps all the way up until then

    Make sure the read is valid. save it to a rom file, and try to open with amibcp to see if its valid. that means your clip is well seated. click erase, wait 5 minutes, then you can now flash the recovery BIOS image you get from the razer bios updater or if you downloaded somebody elses bios.

    I am using the CH341A programmer software but I am not given a option to save as a .rom file

    I saved the files by save as and selecting all files and naming it chip.rom opening in amibcp said failed to open file, does that mean that the bios is not on that chip?
