Brands effectiveness at cooling

    I wouldn't consider the Y520 honestly. It's an 800$ machine being compared to two 1100$ machines. It's just no in the same ballpark. As for GE62 vs GL502VM - the GE62 will run cooler but the 1060 is about 40% faster so it's your call whether you want lower thermals or better performance. I've already made that choice a year ago :p

    The only thing I would recommend is that you download Intel XTU and undervolt the CPU. That will reduce thermals by several degrees. (It's basically a good thing to do on any modern laptop since Intel CPUs are overvolted by default). As for thermals, keep the CPU under 90*C and the GPU under 86-87*C and you're good.

    I presume just undervolt then prime95 to stress test it?

    Aida64 CPU + FPU stress test if you ask me. P95 is a torture test.
