Can anyone supply us with the brand names and type numbers of high quality wide gamut screens for a Clevo P170EM? I prefer matte screens, I have one now too. I noticed that it is quite difficult to find this kind of information on the internet.

I can tell you what we use in our builds:

72% Gamut Matte: B173HW01 V5 OR B173HW02 V1 (They are the same optically, the HW02 is slightly newer and draws a little less power)
    90% Gamut Glossy: B173HW01 V4
    72% Gamut 120Hz Matte: LP173WF2

    Thanks for your replies.

There was another thread on this forum where a 90% NTSC matte screen was discussed, but it seems that such a screen doesn't exist yet and someone made a typo. You can get 95% 15.6 inch matte screens, but alas not 17.3 inch versions (yet I hope).

With the help of the Monitor Asset Manager I was able to determine that I have a Chi Mei HC9GK-173HGE screen in my P170EM. Seems that is quite a decent screen too.

I visited the web site of AU Optronics, and it was very informative. Now I know I can invest my money there, I can apply for a job, they are a hightech company, and yes, they also sell 17.3" screens according to one line on the notebooks screen page. Oh, you wanted product information? No, you will not find it there. How could I be so stupid to think that a company might actually have information about the products they sell. And for consumers, out of the question. Silly me. A call to UA Optronics Europe didn't help either, we just have to ask the supplier of the notebook. I did find a few pdf files on the internet with the specs of the B173HW01 V0, V4 and V5.

I have calibrated my screen with the Xrite Colormunki Display. It seems the well known Spiders are not calibrated, so you can get a good one, a fair one, or a bad one. The Xrite does seem to be calibrated at the factory, and it is just a little bit more expensive. It can also be used to constantly adjust the brightness of the screen depending on the light conditions in your room.

Yes, heaven forbid an informed consumer would ask his supplier for a specific screen type, that would be the end of the world as we know it. :)

I noticed there is also a B173HW01 V7 matte screen, does anyone have information about that type?
