I expect this Cancer will be the next must have in the thin gaming BGA models like Razer, Alienware and Aorus. Next gen of mentioned models will probably follow the thinness trend further!! Be prepared to see the soldered hardware take more and more place on MB. Apple needs to innovate more, if not will they be sinking backwards. Desktops will be more and more the only options as I see it. This sick soldered hardware trend will soon escalate and no returns!!

Slim profile, usually non-gaming BGA is what sells. Can't fault businesses for appealing to the masses. *shrug*

This is 1-year warranty taking effect. Make a law that demands a 5-year minimum and see how fast they'll make everything socketed again.

More lenient and even better; an extra, graded vat based on the device's repairability score. Few tools, time and modular components? -> +0%. Apple-style? -> +50%. Every penny saved by going bga would boomerang back a hundredfold in the sales price.

Would be interested to see how to get that done, but it would keep makers on their game so I like it.

Easy - law. Local law forces companies to offer a minimum of 2 years on ANY electronic device and also has strict regulation on customer service - it doesn't take a lot for an investigation to be launched and fines to be given out. Hell, I've seen cases where a single salty person issued a complaint and the business nearly got fined for 30 000 BGN (about 15 000 USD) based on a false claim. Yeah.

Maybe that's why Razer don't sell laptops here ._.
