    The repair man have so damn correct...

    Alienware 17 R3 motherboard fried from heat. Design error? Ultimate Performance power plan may have caused it?

    People forget that Cpu's who is forced to run 100°C (due failed cooling design) 24/7 will also affect the MB components as VRM's etc.

    If they do then it’s mostly a older one with a i5-2540M. My E5420 has a socket and can be upgraded to a I7.

    when i showed this to my gf she was sooooo happy that EVERYTHING in her 8 yr old Dell Vostro is upgradeable :D she recently got a bump from 8 to 16 GB RAM and switched from 7260 to AX200 wifi :) 8 years old and still going strong!
