So...i just managed to snag a deal of the year. Untested GTX 970M and GTX 980M for 150 shipped. Much to my surprise, both of the cards worked without any repairs. I will stuff the GTX 980M into another computer but for the time being, the 970M is in the M15x. Does anybody have any vBIOS suggestions for this? I'm not interested in overclocking, just to keep the system cool.

Just a quick update. I've made my own custom vBIOS for the GTX 970M in the M15x, undervolted to 0.975V instead of the stock 1.060V from Clevo. I have also lowered target temp to 80 and throttle temp to 85, as well as made perma boost clocks. vBIOS is uploaded a an attachment in this post.

What I need however, is a way to get more juice to the M15x. I only have the stock 150W adapter, so I cannot overclock the CPU at all without having it affect the graphics score. 3dmark11 run here with the UV vBIOS and 920XM at 2.0ghz 4 core

    Nice work!

The slim 240w PSU requires nothing special to work with the M15x. It run the machine and charges the battery. Turn off the power adapter warning in the BIOS. No right angle adapter with the pin pulled, nothing! I have two of them.

    The same 240W as the M17x R3/R4?

I am still fine tuning my vBIOS, lowering voltages across all clock states. I would like to run this thing as cool as possible to make up for the obscene heat from the 920XM

Yes. Both of mine at Delta.

    Dell part number: 0J211H

NOTE: The outside of the body is smooth with *no* ribbing.

Now, let me say this. If you turn off power adapter warnings the machine charges on either the 210w or the 240w adapter without the need for the center pin being pulled. That's right. No right angle adapter. No powering up with the 150w adapter then swapping out to the larger one. I have tested this with both of my M15x's and they work this way all the time. :D

I'm guessing the 330W adapter does not work because I could not for the life of me, get it to work. I will try to pick up the power adapter.

I like the 240w slim power supply because it is much flatter than the regular 240w and the 210w. Good luck!

Thanks, will update when I get my hands on a 240W adapter. I'm impressed with the GTX 970M, it really is the ultimate upgrade for the M15x

I agree. Now that I have the M4000Ms I won't change to the 970M. It was a nice (if pricey) experiment.
