    Hey peoples,

I'm sure this gets asked a lot and I've googled some to find answers, but I figured the more the merrier. :D

So I have absolutely zero experience with things like Java or C++ or whatever else is associated with programming and websites, but I'd love to explore it just for the heck of it.

I'll be doing this 100% by myself to start with and I was figuring using a combination of books and online tutorials/resources. Do you guys have recommendations for beginners?

Code Academy is great for Javascript, python and others, it also has a rather large base of users which allows you to browse the forum and get some help from more advanced users.
I've been using Learn Java - Free Interactive Java Tutorial myself to learn the syntax and whatnot, you should be aware though that the learning curve is steeper than CodeAcademy.
