I’m wanting a much better panel for 2 different notebooks and would appreciate your experience and suggestions. We are not pro photographers needing perfect color but want excellent blacks, vivid but accurate colors and good viewing angles. I have tended to favor IPS panels but am open to suggestions. Excellent cellphone displays are so impressive that I grumble about all sorts of larger devices.

I have the same determination for monitors 22 to 26”, and “TV” in the 36 to 50s range. My aging Asus VH226 has a really good panel, unfortunately hampered by dreadful user controls and poor power management.

    please give me some direction

edit: just as examples, the retina displays seem to be often mentioned in these discussions, and the Wiki has this about sources:
The displays are manufactured worldwide by different suppliers. Currently, the iPad's display comes from Samsung,[11] while the MacBook Pro, iPhone, and iPod Touch displays are made by LG Display[12] and Japan Display Inc.[13] There was a shift of display technology from twisted nematic (TN) liquid-crystal displays (LCDs) to in-plane switching (IPS) LCDs starting with the iPhone 4 models in June 2010.

First thing you need to do is get the specific models of the panels to be replaced to figure out what dimensions and mounting option is needed

hwinfo will gather the model information for you and then we can go from there to panelook.com to find compatible models in your specific size.
