There's also Pale Moon which for all intents and purposes is a port of older Firefox code to work on the modern web. It's not something I would personally use unless I was really desperate, but it's still there.

Thanks everyone...I think Firefox is the only real answer...at least as long as they last!

Opera. I once did a very crude test. I opened Firefox, Chrome and Opera.

Put the same 15 pages open on them at the same time as tabs. Looked at the memory use in task manager.

And Opera used around half the memory as Firefox which used a crazy amount of memory and a third less than Chrome

I have 64GB of DDR4 memory installed on my system and a 3800x CPU but I still notice my browser running more snappy when I use Opera compared to Chrome and Firefox. It is therefore a godsend on PCs that are old and without much memory.

Its based on Chromium and you can install all of Chromes addons to it, so there is no reason not to use it. I will never go back to regular Chrome as long as Opera exists.

(My post is answering the topic title question, not the last question about which is the best non-chromium based browser to use).

It is unfortunate because Chrome is the only browser I actually like, but I have switched back to Firefox. It sucks, but it is what it is. Now I jusy have to figure out the best way of removing Amazon from daily life.

Dunno how you managed to that bro. When using Firefox, I feel like I have downgraded my internet back to dialup. Loading pages is annoyingly slow it damages my nervous system compared to the insta-loading and snapiness of Chromium based browsers.

Right. That is why I prefer Chrome. It is a whole lot better, and it looks better.. But I am not going to support Nazis just because they have nice things. I think doing the right thing is more important even when it is a pain in the butt. Kicking Amazon to the curb is going to require more effort though. Cancelling my Facepoot and Twatter accounts was easy since they've sucked for a long time and quit using them a long time ago. They merely confirmed what I already thought about them.

Edit: Updated my thread poll accordingly.

Assuming memory isnt an issue, what browser do you all recommend? I currently just use chrome out of practicality, but if I can get more performance, then I would certainly switch to something else. I am still on a 4core i7 Kaby lake btw.
