I've been using Symantec (think of it as Norton LITE) for about 7 years now with 0 issues.

I've used Bitdefender for years but recently switched to ESET.....trying out a 30 day free trial while I'm waiting for my new laptop to come in, their Internet Security package which includes their antivirus NOD32. I'll probably just end up with the antivirus software ESET NOD32 but so far I like the product. My current desktop has been having some glitches the last few days but I don't think it's the software, I think it started before I installed the ESET software....NOD32 came highly recommended to me but again, I have no long term experience with it.

I don't have an ETA for my laptop, woe is me......but I made a change from Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 PRO today so I assume it's not built yet (UPDATE: just got an email that it's in the PRE PRODUCTION stage....yippee). Last change was more memory. I didn't really need either change but decided to go with the overkill. I swear this is the last change I'm making...LOL.

I will add Emsisoft Anti-Malware to the list , it has several strong components to keep your computer safe:

      • A dual-engine real time scanner.
      • A Behavior Blocker with anti-ransomware capabilities and a Windows Firewall fortification feature.
      • A surf protection to prevent access to malicious sites/domains.
      • A very reactive and professional customers support team react in hours, not days...)
      • An emphasize toward privacy. (no certificate interceptions, etc...)
Also the resource usage is quite good

ESET NOD32, been using it for more than 12 years....because......well, it has an HTTP Scanner that blocks bad connections/malicious downloads and sites. Because it has 0 false positives. Because it has Live Grid which is like a cloud for added protection (
ESET Live Grid is a preventative system that gathers information about threats fromESET users around the world. The Live Grid database contains reputation information about potential threats. When enabled, ESET Live Grid can detect and block the most recently introduced threats.
. Because it doesn't mess up Windows or Windows Updates or other software like other AVs do.......

ESET is quite reputed for its lightness.
Like Emsisoft AM, it stores its signatures in the RAM instead of the HDD so its fingerprint is low.
