Hi Power Rangers. Im also having trouble with a new (to me) msi 1070 card.
I was trying to flash a few different vbios roms from techpowerup to try and get around this throttle issue, but the last one (Nvidia 86.04.67.00.1E) killed it and I get 8 beeps on POST.
I have to spi reflash with something else...but.....anyone with experience know why this is throttling? Performance cap reason switched between PWR-VREL-IDLE....I have 330w power brick.
    Thank you :)

Most likely wrong vbios. I would only recommend MSI vbios. Majority of vbios from other vendor has different power requirement, less or more can hurt the card.

330w AC adapter doesn't matter much, machine can't accept more than 115w anyways.

I may have killed it already...I got flash to work and flashed msi rom from techpowerup
But now the card is not seen in BIOS...says not detected in dedicated graphics :(

sorry to bother...but could you point me to a msi 1070 rom?
    I will try another one

Did you save and chip dump with the original firmware before flashing? If so, try putting it back on.

Nope...first read was just garbage. I think I killed it with nvflash

    Definite maybe.

Lets see...while waiting for my spi flasher I was altering the N173HHE-G32 screen, putting new backing material and then...I stuffed up..I broke the edp cable. I couldnt repair it so I ordered a new one and still waiting for it. In mean time i have 60hz lvds panel installed.

I then got the flasher and worked it all out. It looks like it flashed!!....but...

I didnt realise the 1070 needs edp to start...wont play with lvds....so I put card into the pc and it wouldnt even show up in BIOS.
I will know if everything is ok once i have the new edp cable :)

Oh ok sounds like progress. What VBIOS did you flash? I have a 1070M from a Zotac but never knew what flash was on it. If you let me know the utilities and method I can dump the VBIOS for you.
