We were talkin about the pop up advertisement that happens when Avira is updated, it still needs to be disabled.

I know that. I was talking about the avira splash screen at system start up. It still appears and can be disabled.

I have a question for those that have already downloaded and installed version 9 (free version). Did you have to uninstall version 8 (also free version) prior to installing version 9, or were you able to simply "update" to version 9 without uninstalling version 8 first? Thanks in advance for any info provided on going form version 8 to 9.

I was just looking through the Avira forums and some people have reported a few problems - like some issues with Windows Defender. Can any of you confirm this? Or, for that matter, any other problems?

    Thanks

@yuyi64> I think you will need to uninstall the previous version and then install the newer version. I tried doing a product update from the main menu, but it just updated the Version 8. I will, however, wait for a few days before updating to Version 9.

I'm loving Version 9. Uninstalling 8 was a bit lenghthy but the quick installation of 9 made up for it. :)

Well...if you don't use Win Def, I am curious, how do you know there are no issues with it?

But it is good to know that the new version is working fine. Maybe I'll update sooner than I thought!
