It seems to be that Avira Premium is destroying the other AV softwares in the past year. I got ESET NOD32 because of it's low usage. Is Avira just as light as NOD32?

yes !! it's unbelievably low on resources, great on detection, quite tweakable in the settings and best of all FREE, for now ......

I just removed Trend Micro from my lappy last night, and installed Avira!

And, so far so good! I like it...I don't get crazy *Install component* popups every hour or so!~ :)

It just works great in the background.....doing the job, it should be doing!

I switched from AVG to Avira and it seems to work very well. I don't use anything right now because I am on a server OS which would require a corporate license.

For me, Avira is by far my favorite anti-virus software. The main reason why it beats NOD32 in my case, is because it's free, light-weight, AND provides ample protection.

After using Avira since Saturday...I am very, very happy that I made the switch from Trend Micro...Avira does the job it needs to be doing for me!

And, it was free = which for me is a ++++

but somehow, avira is slower when I tried to open its control center
and hard to update compare to nod32 on my connection
but I do agree it is a good anti-virus, only those two reason turn me off
if not, I will turn to avira :D

Oish :( sorry that is happening to you...:( Maybe, I perhaps got lucky for once with something that works well with my lappy???  Cuz, I really like it! Or, it's the fact that I'm not dealing with annoying Trend Micro anymore, that was causing me prob's all the time?

Maybe it will get better for you?? ;)

It's been said Avira has slow updates but for the most part it's worked great for me. I disabled the pop up ad during updates using elitekillers directions and the start up splash screen through the registry (can also be found in the Avira forums)

I've also set the scheduler to update 6 times per day rather than the default which is once per day.
