I have the free version of AVIRA with Spyware Blaster and Windows Advanced Care Personal that has Antispyware Protection, both of them are very good. I really like Windows Advanced care Personal from PC Tools, you should try it.

Avira AntiVir rocks. And hard. It rocks Chemical Brothers' "Smack my ***** up"-kinda hard.
It rocks so hard, it outscores any other AV program when it comes to detection rates; link.
Imo it has a rather low memory usage, frequent updates, a decent GUI and it's available for zero $/€/nachos.

There are programs out there with an even lower memory usage (and almost comparable detection rates) but they will cost ya...
    Cheers.

    You have two choices

    1. Get the best Anti Virus program for free

    or

    2. Pay for an over hyped anti-virus program

Kaspersky is far from over hyped.

And you could of easily god kaspersky for free. Frys was just having a deal like what 1-2 weeks back AR? Or you could pay like 5 bucks for one year if you get a key off ebay.

Why is the best???? Have you try AVIRA?

Your comment really doesn't help if you don't justify it, just takes space.

it seemed like you were responding to my comment and not the topic

but yeah my question was which is better, kaspersky or avira

the reason i ask this is sometimes i see kaspersky on sale and i was wondering if it would be worth it or if i should just stick to antivir
