Go AVG, it detected a virus no other AVs other than KAV could detect.

I have the virus file saved, if you the Avast supporters are so confident in it and want to give it a try. lol

It has actually been several years since I have seen a virus on any of my machines, and that one was in a Word attachment.

Far more common these days are SpyWare, both embedded in website pages and spuriously downloaded to the PC. For this reason, I consider having a robust firewall, that is easily configurable for both incoming and outgoing internet traffic to be an essential, in fact, more essential than standard AntiVirus blocking/detecting software.

Second to a robust firewall for me is a strong AntiSpyware blocker/detector in case the firewall does allow something in.

A distant third in my usage is AntiVirus blocking/detecting software. Just in case.

How about none? I have AVG but honestly I rebuilt my PC a month ago with clean Vista and did not run anything for a while.

AKAJohndoe...I went to that link....man that is alot of work and seems like total overkill. Do you sit right behind your cable or DSL modem with your PC? Do you surf hacker or porn sites? Do you let all of your mail marked as spam from your mail provider come down to your inbox..and then open it?

I leave defender and autoupdates on. The only thing extra I run is cccleaner to kill my temp files and my cookies...in case I loose my notebook.

I will read these posts everyonce and a while when on XP and even Vista and then download a bunch of stuff (spybot, adaware) or load up my copy of Symantec Corprate AV 10.2 and scan my system with each....and I never find anything save for a few cookies that I recently got.

I honstly dont think AV is needed if your not doing risky things on your PC. My mail is popped down from google and I leave the crap it thinks is crap on the server.

Not all that much work and definitely not overkill.
Take what you like and leave the rest ;)

With all the duplication of this topic in so many different threads/posts it seems to apply to many of them, so I refer to it. I suppose others could search beforehand, too. ;)
