AV-Test has always been known to show low performance results for ESET. Here's the thing, ESET products after the initial install, once you run a full system scan, it whitelists all files so they are not scanned again unless their hashes change thus it will become super light.

    See: http://chart.av-comparatives.org/chart1.php?chart=chart4&year=2016&month=10&sort=1

This has been explained by Mr. Marcos from the ESET forums. See: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...-test-results-windows-10.394243/#post-2678529

also, from user experience, I have tried them all extensively, the only light ones are ESET, Bitdefender, and Kaspersky, although the latter cause system issues. For example, in the latest Bitdefender, you cannot even exclude false detections  The rest are all bloated

I can see Avira on top for both tests. But not Eset. Are this test from .av-comparatives.org with the Bloated Eset internet Security Edition or the version with AV only?

They use the bloated Internet Security so the AV is lighter. Try the demo for yourself, it has 0 nags and gives you a free 30 day license.

Avira will literally destroy your machine preventing some system apps/drivers from running, blocking all auto runs, and it's a pain in the butt to navigate through its interface. Oh and wait till you see the extra free bloatware that comes with Avira called the Avira launcher!

"Antivirus performance tests are close to being meaningless in my experience. The problem with them, is that the performance of an antivirus can vary greatly from one computer to the next. An antivirus which causes performance issues on a test computer may actually run very well on your own computer."

THIS!! Thanks for confirming my own analysis!! +rep

    All depends on your machine.

BLOATED and FUSSY Anti Virus Software WITH A BIG UNESCESSERY SOFWARE PACKAGE is the biggest problem.
