I have no such issues with my keyboard. All keys work perfectly. So there may be something wrong with your keyboard placement, you should contact Dell about that. The only keyboard issue I sometimes have, and noticed that others have that as well, is that the spacebar sometimes registers twice. Not a huge issue. As for the ethernet, yeah, that's one of the downsides of a thin laptop. You can 'fix' it easily with a cheap dongle though. Or if you sit a lot at a desk, something like a WD15 or TB16 may be a nice option.

To me that seems like it is just IPS glow. Some screens do it more than others, and it is especially prevalant when looking at dark images. However, I can clearly see that the white balance of the camera isn't set correctly (as seen by the very purple images, and the overly orange desk), which may exaggerate the problem.

Thanks MrBuzzkill, I'm still testing the machine out for my case uses, but so far, it's mixed, if I decide to keep it, I'll contact Dell about that. Quick question when you have a moment, I've noticed that when the AC is plugged in (which is pretty much all the time) and whether the battery is charging or not, and regardless of balanced/performance profiles, the PCH temp runs around 55-61C. On battery, it's about half of that, does your machine do that too?

Just following up on this thread and my comments on it...I returned the original XPS Scratch and Dent (Found a lot of scratches on the left and right side, like someone used reversed braille in finding the usb ports, scratching all the sides without looking just feeling their way for where the port is)

I bought another just recently, but downgraded to the 512GB SSD, along with 16GB and 4K screen and only have one scratch on the bottom case (even thought it was CR not SND) The keys are decent, no backspace issue and instead of purple tint on the left side, I have a bluish tint. I bought the 4 year warranty + ADC for a total of $1450 w/tax. I removed Win 10 and put Win 8.1 on it and so far so good. The only issue I have with it is the trackpad, when in use, the left click button doesn't click to the far left. When powered down, it does click (it's also a bit worn, so I assume the previous owner used it a lot rather than a mouse.) I think it's a battery issue, possibly expanded? I'll open it up and check. Two of my venue 11 pro's were ruined due to battery bulges, both took screen damage, to the point where the screen came of the tablet. I never noticed because I don't use them directly, they are used as HTPCs, I only checked on them when they weren't found on the network anymore.

That is a typcial symptom of a swollen battery in the 9560. You should check your computer's serial number at Dell to see if that was under the battery recall; that is not so straightforward to do but you might get a new battery and functioning trackpad to boot.

Don't assume the "refurbish" team bothered to check battery status.

If you have time on your hands, it might be tough to see if battery is swollen so you might try removing the battery and seeing how the trackpad works that way.

Finally, if you want to buy a new battery from Dell, good luck. I don't think many have had luck on that route. You may find knockoffs on Amazon or eBay but you should expect significantly lower performance in the best case and nonworking or dangerous bateries in the worst case.

Thanks, I'm at work now and the laptop is home, I took a pic of my service tag and entered into the dell recall page [ https://dellproduct.com ] and it looks like they verified it, but I'll take the battery out and check the left click.

    My status:
    XPS 9550

Precision 5510 and XPS 9550 swellin... Verification already completed

Status implies status of the Unit in context of the Bulletin. Only units with Action Recommended / Required qualify to be processed.

Quick question, does the 9550 work without a battery installed, just connected with D/C power?

Which thickness of the pads would be the best and how high should be the W/mk value?
I ask because there are many different sizes.
